Resource of the Week
Webflow
I have been building more and more in Webflow recently and I actually just updated my website to include the portfolio reviews that I do with designers on there.
I created the entire page design and pushed it live in 1 night of work because of using Webflow. It was so quick and easy that I enjoyed every minute. I was playing music in the background and jamming out, it was a great time.
Webflow is a powerful visual website builder that has allowed me to save time working on website designs and charge higher prices when it comes to client work. Learning Webflow has become such a powerful tool for me as an independent designer and really has allowed me to grow financially as well.
If you're interested in learning more about Webflow but don't know where to start feel free to email me with any questions you have and I can share with you some good resources to get you started.

Something Gorgeous
Gorgeous Fluorescent Displays
Ok this is a bit nerdy but the typography of old fluorescent displays are insane. All of that of data and information just so well organized and considered. I've noticed now every time I see one of these in a card or one of my dad's old radios I now take a picture of it for my ig story.

Portfolio Of The Week
Yiting Nan
Yiting Nan is a designer and animator originally from China and currently based in NYC. Her work is so simple and colorful yet so strong. It reminds me of some of the animations and cartoons I used to watch as a kid.
Her portfolio website is built on Squarespace and she has figured out how to make the platform work for her to really showcase the work. Her project pages include clips and illustration frames of her animations. She doesn't fail to include a bit of copy on each project page which helps illustrate the story behind each project.
Portfolio Rating: 5/5

Creative Finds
Oppo - Helping Hand Robot
I think I'm the only one that can't wait till we have little cute robots that accompany us throughout our day. I mean look at this Oppo! He's so cute and fluffy.

Website for Eco
Aristide Benoist, Henry Ault, and Nicolas Riciotti have teamed up to create a sick animated presentation of a website for banking company Eco. I was amazed throughout for the entire video walkthrough that was put together.

Art of Play Game Cards
As someone who loves the artist collaboration series with UNO, this is another card game deck I will be adding to my collection. Of course I want a well designed, typographic, deck of cards for my home or my travels so everyone knows I'm a designer 😅

ONE TWEET
If Apps Could Talk FR
Soren Iverson, I think is a designer, or at least he shares new app ideas daily like a designer. And his ideas are hysterical.
They're like if apps thought and spoke like real people.

One Thing I Learned
Disorganization & Creativity
Recently I have been working on a few different projects and in the process have realized all of the tiny little tasks I go through before I actually get to the part that I enjoy. MAKING! While I can definitely agree with the thought that somethings take time to yield something amazing. I rather get right into the labor and skip all the lead up.
For example, this newsletter is something that I genuinely enjoy. Finding all of these links that I think are cool and interesting and sharing them with you is FUN for me. lol.
But all the setup of getting it into Mailchimp and doing this and that is not fun. So I have built a process and a system into creating this newsletter now so that I can focus on the most interesting parts of it. Creative finds and inspiring you to make cool stuff.
There are articles and studies on the web that talk about the idea that disorganization can lead to more creativity. Sure I can see that argument, but this is not the case for me. At least not when it comes to the things I'm doing. For me to truly feel like I am my most creative, I need no distractions, and to just focus on what is in front of me.
My solution to reach that optimal flow state has been to hand off as many little tasks as possible and create repeatable systems. How do I do this? Through a bit of automation and boiling down tasks to their simplest form. I can then employ tools like Zapier and Airtable to do the work for me.
If you want to learn more about automation and handing off some of your tasks just reply to this email or checkout how to Automate Notion.
