Portfolio Website Meets Google Meet
Mauhan M Zonoozy by Studio Vicine
What if your portfolio website didn't actually look like a portfolio website? That's what entrepreneur, exec, and artist, Mauhan Zonoozy decided to do for his personal portfolio website. Now I know Mauhan isn't exactly a traditional creative, but I couldn't help but share his portfolio website that was developed with the help of the design studio Vicine.
So what's so special about this portfolio website? Well for one, it doesn't look like a portfolio website at all! It was designed to imitate a Google Meet window giving visitors the feeling that they had Mauhan an on a call. The site even ask for permission to use your camera so that you can join the Google Meet properly. Some of the familiar Meet icons are used to navigate around Mauhan's portfolio. And instead of sharing your screen you can share Mauhan's portfolio on your socials.
Why do I think this is worth sharing? A portfolio website like this is very novel. In the best possible way. I don't think this type of design is something you would necessarily rely on throughout all of your career. However, if you are trying to make a really big impression on whoever you're sending your portfolio website to. Something like this will definitely get their attention. Will it take some time to put together? Absolutely, but again, the upside is can be pretty worth it. In Mauhan's case, it looks like he is beginning a new chapter in his career where getting some press would definitely help increase a positive outcome with any of his future endeavors.
What do you think of this portfolio website? What are some wild ideas you have for making your portfolio website look less like a portfolio website?

5 Portfolio Mistakes Every New Design Makes
Over the last couple of years I have reviewed over a 150 portfolio websites. And now I am working on an e-book outlining the 10 mistakes I see every designer make on their portfolio website.
Here are five of those mistakes:
1\. No Goal in Mind: I see a lot of designers using their portfolio website as an archive of completed projects. Lacking valuable details about projects and themselves.
2\. Hiding Personality: Part of what makes a portfolio website amazing is you. Incorporating your personality, style, and taste.
3\. No Visual Spice: I have seen a lot of portfolios using the same 5 typefaces and colors. We need to change it up friends!
4\. Showing Too Much: Yes, it's true. You can show too much work. My rule is 3-4(preferably 4) of your best projects.
5\. No Context: Your portfolio website cannot be just images. Visitors need to learn and understand what you were thinking.
This is just a preview of the mistakes that I have seen. As I said, I am working on an ebook that will callout these mistakes and provide additional information on how you can fix it.
If you would like to be the first to receive this e-book for free and review it for me, just let me know with a reply.
PS. Sorry for the delay on this edition!
