Maximizing Your Portfolio Website Potential Early On

Louna Humbert

Louna is a designer from Paris with a humble portfolio website. Sometimes it's okay to let the work speak for itself if you're confident it's good enough. Winning awards or getting praise from organizations can be a sign of quality work. Client compliments are nice but may not always be the best indicator.

I noticed on my phone that clicking projects on the homepage doesn't lead to full project pages. Instead, it cycles through uploaded images. While I usually prefer detailed case studies, this quick glimpse method works well. It's a good starting point for designers who can't create in-depth case studies yet, which clients and employers often prefer.

The key to this approach is having high-quality images and work. This means not just large dimensions, but also well-thought-out compositions that showcase your work and process effectively. When done right, this simple format can be an effective way to display your portfolio, especially in the early stages of your career.

If you are ready to seduce clients and win more projects with your design projects then check out my course How to Craft Sexy Case Studies
